Hi

First build in years so I am out the loop.

I am building a PC and just need to get a cooler. I have a Enthoo Primo case, Gigabyte X97-UD5h-BK Mobo and I7 4790k CPU and I am looking for an AIO CPU cooler for around £100.

I have seen the Corsair 100i and Cooler Master Nepton 240M. Is there anything else I should be looking at? or you would recommend something else completely?

Cheers

Get a big air cooler and save some dosh. As long as your ram is low profile your good to go. Will cool that cpu the same as any AIO unit. Also the top end air coolers come with much better quieter fans.

Any models you would reccommend?

RAM is 'AVEXIR Original Blitz Series Golden 16GB Kit (8GB x 2)'

What about one of the Raijintek Triton AIO http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-016-RT

. A little more flexible than standard AIO like the H100i and you can fit whatever fans you like to it and if you wanted to add bits to it at a later date I am sure it could accommodate up to a certain point.

i looked at that, but doesn't seem to be available any time soon, I have all my other components sat on the shelf.

My new Corsair H105 is doing a grand job at keeping my 3770k cool. I've also owned a H80 and H50.

What CPU are you cooling, is it overclocked?

Edit, missed the 4790k

I use a Zalman cnps20LQ (what a mouthful) and it cools a 2500k @ 4.5ghz in a mini ITX case without breaking sweat, unfortunately I've just looked and I don't think they make them any more, would recommend it in a heart beat though.

Thinking about it I'm sure someone said it's very similar to one of the Antec Kuhlers, the 900 one or something.

That ram looks to be a bit on the tall side so that may rule out some of the larger dual tower coolers. A good single tower cooler is this.

But you would have to add your own fan. The AIO units do have the advantage of taking up less space. But on a 4790k, you dont get the same benefits from an expensive unit like the H110 as you do on earlier intel chips like sandybridge. This is no fault or dig at AIO units. Its just that theese chips run hotter than most due to how theyre manufactured.
