Hey Guys,

Over the next couple of weeks i'll be building my second PC, I've decided to log my journey on building it, last time i built a computer i didn't log anything and feel like i should have, it was a massive learning experience, i've just recently sold that PC so its time to build another one the specs will be as follows:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
MOBO: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC ACX Superclock 3072MB GDDR5
CASE: Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Patriot Viper "Sapphire Blue" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit
PSU: SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W "80 Plus Gold" (Delivered)

My HDD's will be some generic 320GB Western Digital 7200RPM and 500GB Seagate 7200RPM till i can afford a boot drive and more storage.

In the future i'll be adding an H100, Bitfenix Black/Blue Alchemy cable extensions as well as the LED strips by Bitfenix.

I'll be updating quite regularly when i receive the packages.

It's time to go on an adventure.

So today, after college this little baby was waiting for me, being all pretty with its OcUK tape.

Opened the package to find Haribo! oh and the other stuff.

decided to unravel the beast, laid it out on my desk, must admit it looks allot cleaner already, also HARIBO!

Here she is, feels like quality and looks it as well, love the design on the fan shame i wont see it in the Air 540. P.S Aldi Tartar Sauce.

More updates to come in the following days.

Thanks.

I was pretty sold on them from the start mainly due to the big window and being able to hide your cables very easily also the room for water cooling in the future i don't see myself buying another case for a long time, but we'll see when i get my hands on it should be by the end of the week.

Interested in this build aswell as im debating whether to get the 540 air or the Bitfenix Ronin and save myself £50. Also added that mat to my shopping basket now too!

I love how the Megamat is the exact perfect fit for your desk! specs look good, can't wait to see your finished build
I guess gibbo knew id be ordering one :)

I do so love those 3XL mats from OcUK , thin , not overly spongy , and they lay flat straight out of the box too

Nice speakers you have there

Ye love it as well, had some mats in the past what take weeks to flatten out, definitely would recommend the OcUK mats to anyone absolute perfection although i am slighly worried about it fraying but really doesnt seem like it will, the speakers are creative i-trigue 2300 i believe they stopped making them like 5 years back, brilliant bass on them can change the sound preset as well.

I was looking at getting the Bitfenix Ronin also, but i decided id rather spend the extra due to looking at it everyday especially being in such a prominent position you cant escape my desk anywere in my room, also wasn't keen on the stealth-cover offered by the ronin to hide the psu/drive bays etc.

Deciding to go with Patriot Viper "Sapphire Blue" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit instead, due to the lack of blue on the motherboard also its cheaper and runs faster.

Updated OP.

Loving the look of the RAM, shame it doesn't have a black PCB but the green is dark enough, love the case sticker haven't seen many of these on the products ive ordered in the past.

Finished the build for now but its far from being complete, waiting on H100, Braided Cables im going for Blue Cables as the build is currently dominated by Black, Also waiting to get the funds for NZXT Hue and the GTX 780 EVGA Backplate.

here's images of the current build state, sorry for potato quality

Waiting for the packages took longer than expected, ordered from mutilate vendors, pretty excited at this point!

Close up for the Motherboard, absolutely love that black PCB, looks so much better than MSI's Brown/Black PCB mix.

Installed the RAM (Wrong Slots in this picture since then been changed.), the blue on the Motherboard looks darker than it actually is

Carried on

Installed the ugly stock heatsink, oh god its so bad, will be replaced after the new year.

Fits amazing especially because there is a special standoff screw.

Here's the screw i mentioned, never seen one before made installing the motherboard that much easier.

The PSU was a pain to install due to the hotswap bay at the back, the cables were quite rigid but did it in the end.

Here it is the Gtx 780 absolute beast of a card.

hRUwZHyl.jpg.png
All plugged in, doesnt looks pretty ghetto at all due to the PSU cables being quite rigid, also the PSU didnt have any 3pins so ive ordered a molex to 3x 3pin 12v to hide the Fan cables.

Braided cables will make it look much cleaner and stand out more.

All done for now, like i said H100, NZXT, braided cables Inc.

To Be Continued...

Ye hopefuly getting that in the future, i'll need to work out were to have the LED strip tho as the back fan gets in the way of having it right around the inard of the case.

Thanks, like i said not happy with it currently but happy with the hardware just hope i get the funds as a christmas present to get the Hue, Cables, h100

@String what LEDs are you using in your air 540?
