Hi All,

Anyone able to point me in the right direction to cover/mod the bottom panel of the Air 540 so that the HDD bays are not seen/removed?

I have no experience of modding or using any materials so would probably prefer to purchase something pre-made if thats possible, but I am open to having a go at it myself if I knew what materials and tools I needed.

Many thanks,

Chester

I made one from 1.2mm aluminium sheet, cut with a jigsaw. Some use acrylic sheet.
Measurements are around 350x203mm, but mine was a little shorter width wise due to there being a couple of panels covering each end and it having to be slid in after they were installed.

My advice would be to use a piece of cardboard to make a template and then decide what material to make a final panel with.
It may be easier to strip everything out of your case to fit it, as you'll probably have to put it in at an angle.
Some people have even flattened (or cut) out the rails for the HDD trays to get it flush on the bottom too.

OR you could try Coldzero. He has pre-made acrylic lightbox and midplate panels for the 540. He also does a cover for the mobo tray.

Many thanks for your reply. Do you actually secure the panel to the case with screws? I suppose I could use a grinder or something similar to remove the rails, then put a sheet on top.

If you're flattening/removing the rails, then you could bolt it if you wanted.
I don't think it's necessary though. Just lay it down or use a bit of double sided if required.

I didn't do either, as I have two vertical panels sitting on top and it's a tight squeeze to slide in the bottom panel in my situation.

Also check out this thread. There are a couple of builds in there with bottom panels. I think they're towards the end of the thread.

Check DEMCiFlex out mate. They do a full set of dust filters on here, but sell individual ones on their website.
