Hi,

I recently fitted a split air conditioning system branded Toyo rated at 12,000 BTU, unfortunately, when evacuating air from the unit, I let a little too much gas out (maybe 25 seconds worth in total) so the charge is a little low. Fridge engineers are quoting me more than the air con is worth to charge it with R407c gas, is there another way to boost the charge? I was thinking of closing the valve on the larger pipe for a minute or so to boost the pressure, will this work as it is just a guess?

I don't think it's a matter of boosting the pressure in one place, you need a certain volume of freon in there for it to work properly as I understand it. If it's any consolation liquid propane is a better refridgerant than freon so you could bodge some of that in if you're really hard up. The only reason they don't use it is if you bust up the back of the fridge and the propane all comes out you have a fire risk on your hands.

Wasn't there another thread about this exact thing not too long ago? ;)

yup :) but that was 4 the diagnosis of why it was running so strange ;) I thought I could tweak it but looks like Johnny D maybe right :(
