Hi all - I know this is a long shot at best but I was wondering if any of you gurus know what I can look at to see why my air con would suddenly stop working. As of Thursday last week it mysteriously just stopped. It has always made a funny noise when it was on before but it didn't worry me too much. It's a Vauxhall Astra G 1.8 CDX. It was regassed when I bought the car in January so I can't imagine it has run out unless there was a pretty major leak. Even then I would have expected to see a gradual running out rather than a plain stop.

I know very little about "that which exists beneath the bonnet" but is there anything I can look for? I've heard that air con problems can be a *ahem* to diagnose but I guess I'm hoping someone out there has some sort of idea!

Cheers

That's a "yes, you're right they are a *ahem* to diagnose" I take it :p

I think I shall just have to wait until I have some money in which case and have it looked at.

If it doesn't work it needs an expert, especially since it's been regassed recently.

Are there any damp patches in the footwells?

no damp patches, and it still makes its funny noises when I turn it on, it literally just doesn't come out cold :(

timing was impeccable, it's the only time I really "needed" it. Driving along a motorway hungover in 24 degree heat on Friday. It would have been really nice to have it! Never mind. Any idea what sort of cost is involved with trying to find a fault?
