Air cool or H50 ?

I think i prefer the Zalman 9900 MAX to the H50

Temps are a bit lower than my H50

How on a Overclocking forum has nobody mentioned that fact that you should never you the auto overclocking software as it will overvolt all over the place. Learning to overclock isn't hard at all and if you want to learn you are in the right place.

In answer to your question though, whoever suggested the Coolermaster 212 is right on the money. That will be easily adequate for an i3 even at 4+ghz and for £20 a much better deal and less to worry about than an H50.

Thanks for all the replies.
STEVINCHY are you saying its not wise to use the Asus auto overclock utility?
I've never overclocked before so any comments or tips I would greatly appreciate.
Thanks

As bulldog147 said, the H70 is pretty loud. I'd consider your requirements and then decide on what you want. If you want quiet, the H50 is a good way to go, however, high end air coolers outpace it slightly. The H70, if you don't mind the noise, will generally be around 5C or so cooler with overclocked systems under load. Of course, completely setup dependent.

slightly OT but lustral that looks like an x58A UD3R. What NB temps do you get?

About 40C according to the BIOS

Yes it is a UD3R Rev 2 ;)

Loving the 9900 Max , about 1 or 2 C more than the H50 on idle , but about 8-9 C cooler when Prime 95 running.

All the fans in the Case are on lowest possible settings , so the system is quite quiet , but im thinking on getting a Scythe Kaze Master Ace to control all the Fans

Thanks everyone for all your replies. I have decided on an air cooler and have ordered an Akasa Venom ( OC use them or Nero S in their Xenomorph and Titan Preditor). A bit OTT for my system at the moment but good if I upgrade in the future.
