Hi all, I picked up 3600x build a few weeks ago Motherboard is a MSI B450 tomahawk max and im using 8 packs cas 16 3600mhz ram.

I've used the stock cooler until now, which to be fair for a in the box, cpu cooler doesnt do a bad job. But the noise :D the constant ramping up and down when pushing the cpu or playing a game is driving me insane I've had a quick play with fan profile so its fine for normal use. But anything else its like a harrier jump jet on take off.

The build I've upgraded from used a Be Quite Dark Rock 2 which I belive to be unsupported by Be quite on the AM4 platfrom

I planned on picking up a mounting kit from them for my dark rock pro. But as far as I can see they don't sell them for the 2nd gen model. Only the 3rd and 4th gen Dark Rock Pro coolers are now supported on the lastest Ryzen Platform.

I was going to just hit buy on the new Dark rock pro, it's been a great cooler on many builds for me.
But then I thought the whole point of this build was to have some fun and build a cheap AMD build so spending £80 on a cooler is overkill for a 95 watt part.

So could anyone recommend me a good decent cooler - had a good dig myself and this is the best I've come up with, anyone recommend anything better for under £50?

For my wife’s SFF build with a 3600 I used a 1st gen spire cooler from a 1700 rather than using the stealth that came with the 3600. I too found the ramping up annoying and so bought this cryorig cooler with heat pipes and claims 120w tdp on the website even though the box now only claims 100w.

this is the new cooler I bought to replace AMD,s stock cooler

once I put it in I found that it was worse even with kryonought paste!
So I put AMD,s spire back in and changed the cooler profile. I now have the cpu fans at 40% until the cpu hits 60C when I ramp the fans up to 100% at 65C.

it is now nice and quiet and the cpu temp never usually reaches 65C apart from prime95 torture test when it hit 68C.

Mugen 5 revision b supposed to be best budget cooler for that chip

Depends what you can pickup used ect, dunno about the evo 212 might be abit old now?

Nhd15 would kill it

I got a Dark Rock Pro 2 to work with Be Quiets AM4 mounting kit OK, so might be worth trying for yours ? Dark Rock Pro 2 wasn't on the suppoerted list either.

I am running the same on a 3700x

I just stuck it in my best friends daughters PC we have built her for xmas using my old parts... DOhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Cheers to everyone else giving me optionsd, shame two of them are out of stock at OCUK and theMugen 5 isnt in stock till Febuary 2020 :(

These are all decent coolers, and in stock. No issues with tall Ram either with these 3 coolers, as they are have an offset design.

Not sure if you still need the AM4 bracket for the Cryorig coolers as they might include it as standard by now. Best to check with ocuk though. The Alpenfohn is AM4 ready out of the box.
