Currently still running a i7920 and been considering an upgrade to either a 4790k or a 5820k/5930k. i'm after a relatively quiet system and wondering if i would get a decent level of performance with a heat sink rather than a corsair aio (i know other coolers are able ;))

i understand the Haswell-e runs very hot, has anyone got any air cooler recommendations for it?

I have just built my system and I have put that cooler on ..

In the reviews it did very well against the H100(i) and 110.... and its quite as well

But I will say this .. its big

Only just got the cooler so last night with the 1st night the Pc has been on ..

It's huge, frankly I'm surprised Tommy recommended it without saying "By the way, it's massive" - it's one of the few 140mm coolers around, and they won't fit in every case.

I use Megahelms while doing air testing with Haswell E.

The performance is good upto around 1.225v. On the Megahelms I have like 2 x Sythe 1450 GT in push pull.

The other good thing about the Megahelms is that it is compact and will fit in almost all cases and does not block any dimm slots for easy changing of RAM modules.
