Hi all,

I'm stuck at the moment as to what CPU cooler to get. I'm looking around the £40 mark. So far, I can get a Noctua NH-U12P for £42, or a TRUE for about £50 once I've bought a fan aswell. Will the Noctua provide good enough cooling? I'm really looking to up my processor from 3GHz slightly, but also make my machine a lot quieter. Any other suggestions? What are the Zalman 9700s like?

Cheers,
James

Yes the Noctua is great for Duals even OC'd some claim not so great with OC'd Quads.

I can run 4GHZ passively at with it (in Orthos/Prime).

True 120 will prob need lapped unless they now do a better job on it.

I do not even rate Zalman CPU coolers period.

I got a drop of 4-6'c when using 2 fans in push/pull, (2x2000 rpm) in the op's case the noctua would be a good choice, comes with its own fan, its cheaper and it usually doesnt require lapping, unlike the fanless, more expensive TRUE.
