This is not a question about high performance air filters, but whether or not I should bother getting one at all... :D

The car in question is a 1994 306 DTurbo and is probably reaching the end of its useful life, costing more each year on MOT and repairs.

Is it worth getting a new air filter housing or not? The old one is rusted to bits and I'm currently driving it without an air filter as a result.

The only reason I'm asking is because a new one will likely be ~£50, which will be money down the drain if the car gets scrapped in the next year, but on the other hand, surely it's there for a reason

Housing?

Check Ebay or a scrappy and get one for pennies?

As for performance air filters, no don't bother

Well I wouldn't like to think what sort of damage could be done by stones etc getting in. Can you not just get a new housing from a scrappy? Failing that, just buy a cone filter and bodge it on with a jubille clip?

Please tell me what happened after lots of wonderfull cotton wash ingested by the engine?

I can't remember why but I did put a tight over my intake at one point on a metro turbo... cue turbo problems and after looking at the intake.... having to remove a melted tight from the turbine's lol. Young and dumb ;)
