Hi all :)

This is what I am planning for my 800D build in terms of rad location and air flow:

I've read a bit about needing air pressure in the case for decent cooling across the rads and am a bit concerned I may have a problem in that area with my design.

I have a XSPC EX360 Crossflow and a XSPC EX240 for rads, pump/res is a D5 and the fans are all GT Scythe 120's controlled by an FC5.

What do you think?

I'm not a water cooling expert, but do know a little about airflow and suchlike. Assuming the 360 Rad is the first thing in the loop, that 240 rad is going to be dumping a lot of heat into the bottom of the case, straight into the GPU's that it's trying to cool! Not sure on the solution there, but it doesn't seem ideal to me.

I dont know how well it would work having both rads drawing air in and a high flow fan pushing it out the back?

EDIT: Any fans on the 240?

Sorry, yeah should have been clearer. There are 2 fans on the 240 rad.

I'm not really fussed about heat inside the case as everything is watercooled, just concerned about air flow/pressure.

Was thinking the fans on the 360 should be pulling air into the case?

You need to block in all holes that are not on the front/bottom of the case; otherwise you'll be running negative pressure and your case will become a dust magnet. Then the unblocked holes need to be dust filtered.

That said, negative pressure is more effective, and that's what it's gonna be with 2 intake fans and 4 exhausts. The cooling should be good, but you might need more intakes.

Edit: you might wanna flip the back rad fan around, so then there's 3 intakes, 3 exhausts, and hot air rises, so it will be a nice cooling thingy.

I've got a full magnetic dust filter kit for the case which should stop most of the dust build up I hope.

So have the rear fan pulling air into the case then so I have the same air volume coming in as going out? But either way, it's not going to affect the cooling, only dust build up in the case?

I'm not sure if it will affect the cooling as the air will be circulated through rads to the top rad, so it's kind of warm already.

In theory, air volume should be the same if you got a 3+3 fans setup.

If you actually have the whole case dust filtered already, perhaps you could just leave it as it is and see how it performs. Probably very well :) Only way to know for sure is to test.
