Never been sold on these. My sister in law bought one about a year ago and raves about it every time the topic of food comes up, and my wife's been listening.

After her hinting for about two weeks, moulding me like the piece of putty I am, she eventually got her way and we did some research. Today we bought a Philips AirFryer and made some burgers in it.

All I can say is wow! What an amazing gadget. Not only did the patties cook in about a quarter of the time it takes to fry them, but they were nice and succulent and tasted great. All the nasty fat dripped into the bottom of the fryer too, so a bit healthier.

I will say that if you intend on using one of these, make sure it's in a well ventilated room and cover any smoke detectors as it smokes like crazy.

Genuinely impressed!

Anyone else got one? Any tips on using them?

Still loving mine. Cooked bacon in it, burger patties, chips, crumbed fish, loads of other bits and they all came out great.

The smoke must've been a coating on it or something because the smoke is minimal now. Loving it, definitely a good buy :)

So these actually produce good results? Looks like that, based on the comments above. Do they keep the smell contained fairly well? That's the main drawback with the deep fat fryer we have... especially as our current place has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area.

There is no smell once you're done cooking. We simply give the basket and drawer thingy a clean (which is a doddle) and it's ready for use again. I know exactly what you mean with a deep fat fryer, this definitely isn't an issue with these.
