Air fryers

Mine is very basic Tower unit.

Still does the job though, so some data.

25 mins in 2000w oven chips a little undercooked, and more importantly not evenly cooked inside vs outside.

20 mins in 1000w airfryer, chips a little overcooked so shorter time possible, and inside is properly cooked.

I have seen some very big combi airfryers which look fancy, but I expect energy savings arent as good in those because heating a larger space, the thing that will drive the bulk of energy saving in airfryers is how small the cooking area is.

Did our xmas lunch in ours, 1.2kg gammon joint done in 60 mins @200°c (internal temp hit 70°c) - roast spuds in 20 mins also @200°c. Meat was perfect, roast potatoes less so. Par-boiled them for ~20 mins like I normally would, then sprayed them, with 0 cal cooking spray. Insides were perfect, outsides looked browned, but didn't really go "crispy".
Pigs-in-blankets perfect 20 mins @ 180° Forgot stuffing and parsnips so can't comment on them lol

Well i caved and got a Cosori 3.8L Air Fryer.

Was keeping an eye on prices for ages hoping for a "sale" to happen.

It is a very compact model, footprint is not much more than my slow cooker.

Will be giving it a go tonight with some frozen chicken and chips.

Does anyone use the racks you can get? I'm thinking something like this for the Ninja AF400 - it's not full size, but would possibly help when either doing battered fish (several pieces, would save them laying on each other) or dehydrating stuff? Ta

I would be a bit wary of putting bare/uncoated metal in as may scratch up the non-stick coating of the baskets.

Well I've had my 300 for just over a month and I've never done so much cooking. The oven always feels like a chore to me. This makes it easy and less of a hassle. I'm now thinking I should have got the ninja 400.

Has any bought them racks off eBay/Amazon? Just bought 2 for £12ish should make it a little better when you want to fill it up more.

My only concern is cleaning the AF300/400's upper bits where the fan is situated. I haven't looked at any YT dismantling guides yet but I hope it is somewhat easy to clean as mine is gathering a bit of grease etc in the first drawer. Sausages don't half make a mess!
