I have budgies in a birdroom and the dust was driving me potty. A few people recommended an air purifier so I purchased one. It seems to do the job in regards to air quality/smell and picks up quite a bit of rubbish in the filter.

Does anyone have any experience with them over a long period of time?

I have a Dyson Air Purifier in my home office. It comes with an app and measures/shows are quality. I think it's fairly good and you can see it go to work when dust rises, smoke enters the room or interestingly, when I turned on a cheap humidifier I had, which has now been binned. You pay silly money for them frankly, but I wanted the aesthetic. I bought one as I am asthmatic so always interested in keeping the air as clean as I can as each little thing helps.

We have a cheapo Argos jobbie, works reasonably well. Make sure you get a HEPA filter and don't expect miracles, but it should help.

I bought an Aeramax dx95 for my bedroom from amazon after lots of reviews and searching. Ever since i've bought it not had any allergy problems.

I used to always wake up with sore throat / tickling throat from my dust allergy. Now it's gone pretty much. Wish I had coughed up cash and bought one years ago.

Run it whenever I go to bed, doubles up as white noise generator so noises don't wake me up.
