Air Rivals (previously known as Space Cowboys Online, Ace Online and Flysis) is a free MMO game best described by "What MMO" as a "sci-fi action-flight sim where air-squadrons of enourmous size can go toe-to-toe, trading bursts of machine-gun fire and missiles in their hundreds".

Sounds cool!

Anyone playing this already? Is it as good as it sounds?

Tried space cowboys a while back, while it was ok, and it was free then too, it was very much a grind fest of a game to get anywhere..

Still, you got to fly around, free and the graphics are ot that bad for a free game.

id give it a go if you were bored and had soem free time, again though, much better in a group of you.

Gonna have a look at it, sounds like it might be fun.

EDIT: Oh No! this is space cowboys.. I remember it now. Terrible grind fest.

EDIT2: Is this game PVP? It's about the only thing that could save it.

This gets a small write up in the MMO supliment that comes with PC format (or pczone, cant remeber as i subscribe to both) anyhow they say it has really evolved and recomend trying it

Gave it a go the other week, didn't like it at all. Nothing like Eve, Linken. Couldn't set the res to my monitor's native, couldn't remap the keys. Kind of different, but seemed to be loads of grinding involved.

It's fun for a bit then turns into your average Korean grind fest. Try it and see if you like it, I think the combat is fantastic, I just hated the ridiculous amount of work needed to get from one level to the next.

PvP is fun though, when you see like 30 ships gate camping. Then you realise you really can't do anything cause your level is so gob-smackingly tiny compared to the others :(
