Bored so i thought i'd see what people prefer here.

What would you rather run for a nice stable 24/7 setup?

im betting a good 60% of you will be saying air :) post away, im still deciding over water or air for my next upgrade

I ran water 24/7 for 4 years on my old setup with no problems. I've moved back to air now though as I didnt really push the water cooling setup so didnt have the need.

Water.

Phase too loud for 24/7
Air not usually good enough for a top overclock.

....and water looks so much better;)

Not always quiet though, I have a deadly silent HTPC watercooling setup with just a single 120mm fan spinning at less than 900rpm, no other fans at all, not even in the psu. pump is also undervolted and very well sound proofed. Silence before performance in this case.

On the other hand I have a twin loop setup in my gaming rig that is far from quiet! the machine has 8 120mm fans, all pumping out fairly high cfm. Everything on max speed for maximum cooling performance, noise is not an issue when Im gaming :)

Generally for air cooling to match the performance of a near silent watercooling setup when cooling a cpu you will need to max out the speed of the fan on the heatsink and also up the speed of the case fans.
