Caporegime
This new airbrush, along with a cheaper evolution version, was funded by kickstarter towards the end of last year. The project was led by H&S, with plenty of design input from the top bods at Cult of Paint who had been modding their own brushes. The goal being an airbrush perfectly suited for long hours of accurate miniature painting. It can be used for other uses though. I will use it for modelling, but I'm considering having a go at painting some miniatures, as I prefer painting to building if I'm honest.
Firstly, it looks AMAZING! Probably the best looking airbrush I've ever seen with the carbon black body and gold metal work. It also is the lightest airbrush I've ever used. No worries about long hours and cramping up here. It makes the Iwata Eclipse feel like a lead weight! It also has a great left/right reversible trigger with a raised edge for your finger to fit nicely. It's hard for your finger to slip off, a problem I have had quite often with my Iwata Eclipse.
It has a redesigned double taper 0.4mm needle to give a more even spray, a tiny low profile eye line cup, allowing you to see straight down the body to your figure without any large cup getting in the way. It does come with a 5ml cup as well if you need to hold more paint, i.e for basecoating. Also has a crown cap.
The final new feature is a quick fix handle which allows you to dial in a setting quickly to restrict paint delivery. However, even with this activated, it still delivers a fair whack of paint, so patience and practice is needed.
I've only sprayed on paper with model air paint so far, but it sprays like a dream. Beautifully light and balanced and is very easy to control. Perfect for fine details.
For modelling it's a great brush. For figure painting, it's probably about as good as it gets atm. The infinity retails at £220, and the cheaper evolution is £150. You can also buy different size accessories like needles etc, if you need to go smaller.
Loads of pics for you to peruse.
