Took my ST220 in today for a Re-gas as I have no idea when it was last done, the aircon was working but it wasn't as cold as my old Mondeo, that was like being in a fridge, I had that done last year and it was stupidly cold after a regas.

About 70 - 80 mins later they came back & told me they can't fill it as it is leaking?

I now have no air con at all.

Does this sound iffy to anyone?

If it was working OK before hand I would not of worried having re-gassed - But you may have a high pressure leak, did they do a full pressure test or rely on the vacuum.

edit: wheres about are you in the country?

I suspect you had a small leak which would have been losing gas over time. During the A/C service the remaining gas is evacuated and the system vacuumed. During this stage the machine can detect the leak and throw up an error.

It worked but just wasn't ridiculously cold, it never has been since I bought it but then neither was my other car and a re-gas made it stupidly cold, to the point you had to make sure it wasn't blowing at your hands or they would go numb.

edit - I am in north notts, curious as to why you ask?

The guy said his machine just kept going through the gas reclaiming process without ending so he stopped it, he said it must have been sucking air in as it never finished.

Aircon can varies between model / manufacturers, if you were local (north Kent) I could have a look.

How strange, the whole reason I had it re-gassed is so that I could drive to north Kent on Thursday in a fridge like car.

So I will be local over the weekend, lol.

At the moment the last thing you need is Aircon

You always need Aircon, if the mercury gets over 17c it's too warm, the Mrs will probably be glad it aint working until she realises I will spend anything to fix it.

Are you Available Thurs, Friday or Saturday? if you know what you are doing I will cross your palm with silver or give you Beer?

I am available Saturday - what part of North Kent are you in? (I am Dartford Area)

Edit: What is the State of play of it at the moment?

I have just booked Monday off work to get it looked at locally with an air-con specialist, at the moment the compressor is starting & stopping rapidly, hopefully I can get some answers Monday, if so I may not need assistance but I will let you know and I appreciate the offer to take a peek.

Saturday we will be heading home from Kent, but it looks like we jump on the M25 at Dartford so a detour isn't a problem (we are at a wedding on the isle of Sheppey on Friday so it'll just be sat in a car park all day whilst I get extremely merry)

As its stop / starting you have some refrigerant in there rather than completely empty.

Let us know how you get on, I am approx 10 mins ~ from the M25 jct traveling up the A2, hopefully they will sort it, and have fun at the wedding :D

This morning I thought i'd pop it into Kwik Fit as they offer a no re-gas no charge policy.

I didn't tell them anything about it being done yesterday, he came back after just over an hour saying it was all sorted but there was only 127g of refrigerant in the system when they started doing it.

I now have nice cold air-con.

Clearly the first place did something incorrectly.
