I have this urge to get back into building models. mainly interested in cars and military aircraft. When I was a lot younger the gold standard was Airfix, but I am sure I read somehwere they went bust ?

Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that they weren't he best quailty anyhow, can't remember if it was here or some other forums. So If I don;t go for airfix brand what is the next best quality brand I should be considering. I am looking for a one stop place that will have the models, and all paints accessories etc.

The original makers of Airfix went bust but Hornby bought them and are continuing the name. Hornby make great quality things so I imagine Airfix will be of the same (decent) standard as before.

I also imagine that Airfix will have the greatest number of models due to licensing and what not.

Take a look at Dragon Models and Tamiya ranges. I see more of these in model shops in Glasgow than I do Airfix these days.
