Was in a similar situation, will be hard to find better still available case than the Corsair 450D that I went with last year. Has a double 5.25 bay but unlikely to find a single.
I use 2 x 140mm at front and 2 x 140mm at top, plus got room an additional 2 x 120mm, a rear exhaust and a bottom intake.
Bottom front drive bays fully removable, has amazing airflow once done. Fully tested gaming during summer 37c heatwave. Amazing for temps and airflow. Also a clear acrylic window instead of tempered glass, so no risk of random shattering. Uses aluminium and steel instead of plastic like on some similar cases that also still have a 5.25 bay.
The only bad thing is the included AF fans are noisy AF at stock, I had to use Argus Fan monitor to get them silent at idle by running at 30% rather than 50% which is the lowest in bios.
Highly recommended, got mine running damn near silent at idle and very quiet for gaming just by tuning fan speeds a bit. Have to put your head right next to PC to hear a very slight sound at idle.

Edit: Only room for a 1200mm max rear exhaust, but tops can be 140mm, so possible compromise there.
