I used to have my Antec 1200 on top of my desk but I've got a new one now which allows me to put it underneath.

Antec 1200 Case

It gives me more room but I've noticed my temps have creeped up a bit since moving it, idle is now about 50c. Is this due to the smaller space I've now got it in? None of my intake fans are obstructed so I don't know if I've knocked the HSF when I moved it. I've got a H50 which I'm going to install today when my new fans arrive but just want to know if it's worth putting it back or leaving on my desk again. The thing is bloody heavy so the less I have to move it the better!

yea fans are having to work harder to pull the air in (from the side) and also because it is next to the wall there isnt a lot of places the hot air is able to go to, so it will bring ur case temp up slightly

I'd say adjusting your case fans for better airflow

Rear intakes and front exhausts for instance, so your not trapping hot air around the back of the case

Bad plan, as the PSU will always vent to rear, so you'll be creating some strange airflow inside the case. Always have airflow from front to rear.

Secondly most cases the front airflow is at the bottom, and the rear airflow at the top... Heat rises, so standard airflow is assisted by physics, switch it around and your in a world of inefficiency, and will probably end up with uncooled hotspots in the case.

Good points I failed to factor that in.

Would there be any possibility of cutting into the side of your new desk to allow for more air to escape from the rear
