Airfryer recommendation

I am still a little perturbed about the whole non stick chemical issue.

I quite like the small bowl Airfyers as I live alone so don't need a gigantic fryer! Lol....

Ninja have such a good name. I need REAL persuading to ignore the non stick issues reported...

Non-stick cookware, commonly coated with PTFE (Teflon), poses significant health and environmental risks due to the release of PFAS ("forever chemicals") when overheated above 500°F (260°C) or scratched

Max temps mine reach are 210
Don't use items that can scratch

If scratched the cost of a replacement is not bank breaking.

On the cleaning.

Last year we cooked a chicken in the Ninja Speedi and removed the chicken and went away for 1 week.
On return we noticed the smell first and then when opening the Speedi lid, realised we had left and forgot to clean it.
The surfaces were totally scratch free and the surface was non stick.
Tried the dishwasher tab idea, then bleach, then napalm, but no matter what, the odour of off meat would never leave the bowl, so out it went and a not overly expensive original replacement was ordered.

That was a genuine mistake, as we always clean and wash after every use, but shows that that non stick coating is not 100% bullet proof.

Just get the ninja crisp. Glass. Easier to clean, portable etc

Do it. :)

We use some cheap grease paper disposable inserts with ours, doesn't require cleaning after use and can just bin the paper and crumbs, or the oil. Would recommend picking some up if you're not a fan of the cleaning.

Doens't want forever chemicals though, it's hard to find baking and/or grease proof paper without it being bleached or lined with silicone.

I've had a Xiaomi air fryer for about two and a half years, it's nice and compact and I like the simple design and interface with the single dial and OLED display. There's an app too which I used a few times at first for other recipes but now it's quicker to just set the temp and time I want myself. It's a bit on the small side at 3.5 litres but works for me, the newer version is 4.5 litres which is probably a bit more useful and there are other larger ones too.
