Airplay bt sport

Last night i used air play from my 6s to my apple tv to watch the football. This worked fine as long as i meft my phone alone on the bt app. If i tried to use it for anything else the airplay comnection would usually drop after about 30 seconds. Is this normal and just a limitation of airplay?

I had the same issue streaming videos to my Apple TV so I tried a Chromecast instead. It works nicely, so nicely in fact that I'm thinking to ditch the Apple TV.

EDIT: The BT Sport iOS App supports Chromecasts too.
