Airplay questions!

I'm thinking of getting one of the B&W Airplay speakers, but I'm just wondering if it's possible to stream music from sources that aren't iTunes?

Reason I ask, is because i'd like to be able to stream various music & movie audio (from an iPhone and my PC), without putting it into iTunes!

It depends whether said application supports the airplay protocol or not. Surely the easiest option is to just use iTunes? The only reason you would buy an airplay compatible device e.g. speakers is if you intend to stream your media from something which supports airplay!

It should do as when I airplay my mac to apple tv it airplays VLC .mkv files to my apple TV perfectly fine.

No. You cannot stream Airplay from anything other than iTunes on a Windows PC.

Mac can do it via built in Screen Sharing.

"Airfoil" - Software that enables you to do it from PC. Worth the money.
