Is anyone running airpods with an android device?

My Galaxy buds have given up the ghost after many years and now looking for a replacement, the new galaxy buds get very mixed reviews so thought about throwing airpods into the mix.

Anyone using the two together and do you have any issues? Or have you tried it and then gone back?

I've used airpods with my Android phone for music and for calls, works absolutely fine. TBH I got them for free in a company raffle as would never have entertained spending so much on headphones but after using them I was amazed at how good they actually were.

No issues, it's just another bluetooth device really. You can double tap the bud to pause music as well, maybe some other things too.

From what I gathered from Linus’ experience on LTT, the only main issue is you can’t update them without an iPad/iphone.
That seems like one hell of an oversight, but it would make sense given that the EU is (yet again) citing apple being a problem in being able to use accessories on their iphones. I'm just amazed that they would go so far as to not want people to use their product on android.

They work fine on Android, you just can’t update the device firmware on Android. That doesn’t stop them working.

Pixel buds Pro 2 can be picked up BNIB on eBay for a good price since they were given away with the latest Pixel release.

Yep the pro 2s are really good in my experience, reviews seem to agree. Big step up from the originals.
I tried a pair of the originals and concluded that I didn't like them - I have a pair of airpods pro and some momentum 3's, and found that they just didn't come up to scratch - in fact the only thing i don't like about my momentum 3 bud's is sennheiser's software

Little to do with the EU, Apple made that decision from the get go. But it's done to keep people locked in to their ecosystem, similar to Google with the Pixel Buds as iirc they don't offer an iOS app.
