Hello all,

moving out Sunday - WOOOOOO!!! :D:D:D....ehem.....ANYway...

I can't mount my sound system in my new room, but I can put it in the lounge so it'll give me and my roommate a kick arse sound system for when we are watching TV and stuff :).

Now, I'm taking the Mac Pro with me, VERY nearly bought a MBP because I didn't want to be anti-social, but it'd be stupid as I have a perfectly good MP here, I'll be buying a MB though as I'm always using my sisters the same time as I'm using my machine.

Anyway, first quescheon...I'm going to need a wireless card for the MP...which one should I get?, decent range is essential because I don't know where it's going to be put and how far away the router is going to be (it's only a flat but meh) bought my machine in July last year, don't care about transfer speed - 54mbps will be perfectly fine. I was thinking a Netgear - as I have Netgear everything, not sure which one will work in the MP though?

Second brain picking thingamajig...I was thinking of buying an Airport Express base station and stereo cable kit to connect it to the amp and to stream mine and her music through the sound system. Has anyone got one of these? what are they like to setup? what's the quality like etc?

Many Thanks :)
Jacob.

The AirPort Express is very easy to configure.

It has 4 tabs to configure, so once you tell it your network details, it's pretty much done. AirTunes is turned on by default.

It broadcasts the audio via Apple Lossless, so it transcodes the music on-the-fly, and it has a 2 second delay from the second you click play. Once it starts playing it behaves like iTunes, and will respond instantly. A dropdown box is what you use to select the audio output (in iTunes), the sweet thing is, you can choose the hi fi + the Mac, if you want.

Be sure to password the AirPort Express' AirTunes feature, or anyone in range could choose it as an output.
