My sis is a Mac user and is treating herself to a shiney new B&W Zeppelin for Christmas with some support from the family. Now the Zeppelin has mini-toslink input and I am curious to know if she can hook it up via this to the mini-toslink output of the Express without the Express having to be wired into the router.

Basically her router is under the stairs and she will want to be able to stream music from her Macbook over wifi to the Airport Express and have it feed the sound into the back of the Zeppellin. Can this be done?

Thanks all

BA

Yes. The B&W would have to be configured as a speaker, and then it'll show up in iTunes.

And the Airport would act as the bridge between the router and the Macbook without have to be wired to the router? Brilliant thanks. Placing the Airport in toslink range of the Zeppellin is much more practical for her. Thanks for that. Btw configuring it as a speaker, is that in the Airport settings? I am a pc user so not so "au fait" with Apple settings, I'm afraid.

Ok, apologies. If you're configuring it on a Mac, have a look at this guide.

.

Essentially, what you do is tell the AirPort Express to "Join existing wireless network", give it the password then give it a speaker name (and password) for iTunes, and reboot iTunes. The AirPort will have to be connected to the Zeppelin, but doesn't have to be wired to the network :)
