Is this what I need to be able to stream music from my iPhone wirelessly to my AV amp in my living room?

I currently have gigabit switch behind the amp for the PS3,Wii and ive also got good WiFi signal from my router in the office.

Will this also enable me to stream music from itune on either my PC or MBP.

Help please. My understanding is that with the Airport i will be able to stream music to my living room from my iPhone but im not sure about the PC.

Does anyone have this set up.

The air port can receive music from any computer with iTunes installed. You just got to click it in the bottom right corner in iTunes.

Hook up the airport to your existing network, watch out fo mac address! Which i forgot, and you are good to go.

Be careful with the AE though. Yes it will do what you want but it is a terribly designed piece of equipment.

I use mine for AirPlay too as it is hooked upto my amp. However AirPlay is still a new api and rather flaky at best. It doesn't always work consistently as it should when streaming music from iDevice to AE. When using my MacBook with iTunes to stream music to the AE it is flawless.

My AE sometimes just forgets it's connected and takes about four resets just to allow it to see my wireless network again. It is a very hot device, so heat is it's biggest flaw. I've managed to waste weeks getting airplay working, and it is still flaky.

It's a shame Apple don't bother redesigning their smaller devices as this one greatly requires it. There was a firmware update for the device a few days ago - I'm hoping that helps on AirPlay issues.

I use a number of AE devices around my house for music streaming and I am more than happy with them.

I have iTunes installed on my Home Server and use the Remote App on my iPhone to send the music from my server to which ever room I like. I haven't had any issues with mine and it took me about 5 minutes to set up.

I have a PC running Windows 7 which I use the remote app to stream my iTunes library.

You can also stream directly from the an iPhone or ipod touch to an AE. What is very cool is that on iOS 4.2 when you double click the home button to open the multitasking you can control the devices master volume, next to it is the airplay control so you can select to stream all sound to an AE.

+1 for AE! If you haven't already check out the iTunes DJ functionality - very cool if a little gimmicky - you can have it so that guests at a party can add items to the playlist from their own iPhones.
