Have parked my car at Manchester Long Term Parking on or two times and was just wondering how secure it it.
When you book you have to state times for drop off and collection and you drive in automatically with the number plate recognition knowing your car.
When you drive out it is the same, but what happens if someone stole your car, would they be able to just drive out if it was a different day or time that you have booked or would the system stop them to be checked

I would think its lower risk than pretty much anywhere else public you will park due to the massive number of cameras round airports these days. There aren't going to be many opportunistic thieves hanging round an airport and if a professional wants your car you are stuffed anyway.

I've never flown from Manchester but at Heathrow & Gatwick I've booked parking and ended up coming home earlier and the barrier opened when I got to it.

The arrival and departure times are so they know how much to charge and can monitor the usage of the car park.

A would-be car thief would likely need your car key to take your car anyway.

This really, people are constantly parking up or leaving at air ports. It's pretty much 24hr. Not the type of place your normal thief is going to target. If your car is that special that they do target it, then it's likely they would prefer to steal it from your drive way with the key acquired from your house.

The terminal 3 shuttle park is fairly decent. Regular shuttle bus to all terminals, you pre book with car reg and use your payment card + anpr to swipe through the barrier. It is patrolled periodically.

I did notice the last time that the barrier just let us out which made me wonder about all of the same questions that you've asked.

I seem to remember an article a while ago which would make me think that saying the time you'll return is mostly so they know when they have to bring it back after borrowing it :p
