When im turning my mbp on, airport says its turned off in the status bar. However when i go into network preferences, it says its switched on. If i turn it on through the status bar, it will then connect to my wireless network. However im having to do this each time i bootup.

Any ideas what i can do guys?

Not sure what he problem would be but the first thing I would do is create a new user account if see if it happens there. I would probably reboot my router while I'm doing this as well.

Tiger or Leopard?

What OS are you running?

AFAIK this was a known issue with Tiger 10.4.10 and has been affecting systems since (even including Leopard).

Have you got it set to "Log out of Wireless Networks on Shutdown" in the preferences? Can't imagine why it would affect it, but it's worth a try.
