Airport upgrade to 'N' in CoreDuo Macbook

As per title -

Has anyone upgraded the Airport to 'N' in a CoreDuo Macbook?

ifixit.com says it can be done - http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-MacBook-Core-Duo-Airport-Card/287/1 -

as do various blogs etc.

However, I asked at Apple Meadowhall and was told it would not work - are they giving me the wrong information?

I've already got the 'N' card, but don't want to rip the Macbook to bits if it isnt going to work.

Of course they would tell you it wont work its an unofficial upgrade that they are not profiting from or providing support for.

Granted, but I have found the staff in the Meadowhall store to be Muppets in most cases.

They told me I'd have to send it to 'head office' to get the Keyboard changed due to cracking....
