I'm thinking of getting into airsoft and I'd like to know the sort of things I'd be looking at apart from a gun and I'd like some recommendations on some decent AEG's.

I'm thinking of an M4\16 of some sort and would just like some recommendations.

and of course feel free to post any you own :)

Trouble with Airsoft since October 2007 is the need to be a registered UKARA member before you can buy
Wrong! The legal requirement (one of) is that you be a Skirmisher who attends a site with PLI. (public liability insurance) UKARA is just a scheme by retailers to help verify someone is in fact a skirmisher.

There are also some "Two-Tone" which anyone can buy providing they're over 18.

Example's.

http://www.actionhobbys.co.uk/JG-M4-S-System-AEG-2-Tone-_AIV47.aspx (Two-Tone M4 S-System)

Once you become a Skirmisher you can spray those black to become an R.I.F.

There is such thing as tax you know? And then theres england having to be so much more expensive than nearly everywhere else.

Wolf armouries is great, the guys in store are cool too.
They are generally more expensive than other sites though, and the costumer service is reported to be bad (though on the occasion I have shopped with them it seemed fine)

In my experience (and my brother and I have visited a number of airsoft sites) the best (in terms of site and facilites/staff) are signed up to UKARA and it is very difficult to buy decent kit without membership.
Oh I wasn't debating that.

Plus, you don't need to be a member of UKARA, all you need is a to be a member of a site that has insurance..
Actually you just need to attend one, membership just helps to prove you do.

That affected me, assuming you're refering to Land Warrior. Bit of a pain in the arse, since my local site says you need to go 6 times rather than the usual 3 before they'll accept you as a member. And since they only run games once a month that means I have to wait 6 months before I can buy any new guns. It's doubly as annoying because I don't like playing there anymore, as it's way too crowded.
Can't you get the owner of the site to confirm to the shop that you do skirmish there? That would work in theory.

I'm interested in airsoft but with these recent changes in the law it seems like a right pain in the a** to become a member to allow me to purchase some airsoft guns.

Are imported RIF's still subject to the new law, if so how are these regulated as the sales dont require any membership numbers from places like Japan / China via web purchases as far as have seen, also prices appear to be more competetive without import duty of course.

Stu
Prices are better but you will have to pay high shipping and will most likely get stung by customs too, you need to be a Skirmisher to import so you need to attend at least 1 game before you can order from abroad, same goes for over here but most retailers require you to be registered.
