Hello.
Like it says in my signature, I am running a i5 2500K 3.30GHz, on a ASUS P8P67 EVO motherboard, with a CoolIT Vantage A.L.C. CPU Water Cooler.
I have just started playing Dragon Age 2, when AISuiteII warned me that the CPU temperature was over 75°C. A quick check in AISuite showed it was well on it's way to 90°C! This is after about 5 minutes of playing.
I opened up my case to check if there was any problems with the CPU cooler, and saw that the display on the Vantage's LCD screen was showing around 50°C.
I went back to Dragon Age 2, and exited the game. Straight away, AISuiteII showed the temperature of the CPU had dropped to around 40°C.
Does anyone know what is going on? Which is correct, AISuite or the CPU Cooler? Which do I trust? Is the game to blame?
I can run many high end games on my rig with no problems whatsoever. After extended play the GPU fans will ramp up slightly to deal with the extra heat, but the CPU cooler has never had to ramp up.
Edit: Just tried it again - checked the temps on AISuite, and it showed around 38°C. Started up DAII, the temp rose to around 42°C by the time it had gotten to the main menu. Load up my save, as soon as it's loaded I alt-tabbed out and saw the temp had risen to around 55°C. Since writing this, it's gone to 65°C and it still climbing!
