now i've never heard of these people before and the fact its started on 2 systems has gotten me a bit worried...

Akamai is a content distribution network, many of the big companies use it for download management.
Not sure about the certificates though.

yea i kept clicking no every time i saw it.... i did notice on my main pc (not now as im on laptop with 56k dial up o.O) that when i clicked no the advert in the bottom of the msn window turned into an "x"... so maybe it was that.. but dont understand why an advery would need a cert.... dodgy stuff :p

Yeah I seem to get this every now and then popping up whenever Windows Live Messenger (The current version) is running, and click No everytime.

I have the same problem and I found this...
Spyblocking software will generate a new hosts-file and add urls which will
subsequently be ignored (blocked: re-directed to 127.0.0.1, one's own PC)

Since Microsoft moved the Update website to a248.e.akamai.net go into
C:\Windows, find the hosts-file and put a #-mark in front of the line that has
a248.e.akamai.net in it.
