I'm considering buying this case, and was wondering about a couple of things that people may be able to help with.

I have a XP-120 heatsink which I can't fit to my mobo in my current case as there is too little clearance between the top of the mobo and the PSU. Anyone know whether the Eclipse 62 would provide sufficient clearance for me to mount this heatskink on my mobo?

Also, should I be alright fitting my current PSU to this case as well?

For the Eclipse, I am intending to buy a couple of 120mm Akasa Amber fans? Is this a good choice of fan for noise/cooling?

I've found it really hard picking a case I like, and am also still toying with the idea of getting an Antec P180 in black - as these are on special this week!

Cheers

Aha - thanks. So there should be enough clearance with this case? I'm pretty sure that this case doesn't come with any fans though, so I'll probably get a couple of ambers to go with it.

Thanks for that. The socket on the IS7-E seems to be quite high up towards the top and, from what I remember, the xp-120 reaches right to the top edge of the motherboard (as it is wide rather than high). I'm pretty sure there is no overhang though (although there might a few mill).

I think I will have to take some measurements to be sure. Overclockers were out of these cases last time I checked though, so no big rush. I do fancy this case over the P180, even though people don't seem to like the plastic front!

Lol, a bit of debate this has caused. Anyway, my original issue was whether I would have sufficient clearance between the PSU and my mobo fitted with an xp-120 heatsink. I think it should be ok though from what people say here.

I am definitely going to buy this case asap. I'm tempted to get a couple of akasa amber 120mm fans to go with it, unless anyone has any better cooling suggestions for 120mm fans for around a tenner?

Anyone else seen the Akasa Mirage review in this months custom pc.

Same as the eclipise but with a new front, the review says the front is alu i think, but its definity a new design, google should help for more info.

I've done a search and the front looks kind of nice. Can't see it in this month's custom pc though - I have April's edition? Where is it?

Finally ordered an Akasa Eclipse 62 with a window and a couple of Ambers. I think it was this case all along for me, but it has taken me so so long to finally take the plunge and buy it. I will now spend my time deliberating over which monitor I would like as my next purchase.

I have never deliberated so much over pc components before, but cases and monitors seem to have occupied me for months!

Thanks for your help Yewen, I think you helped me make my mind up once and for all!

so I hope your not supporting Reading just cuz they goin up lol?

I think Im favouring the Eclipse slightly as there seems plenty of room for working on stuff,am I right?

Cheers (how long since you left leicester?

Nah, still look out for Leicester but don't follow them that much. Left Leicester around 1994 - so quite a while. Still go back from time to time though.

amd
not sure wether to get a board with sli ready although i dont think i want to so maybe a non sli would be okay, eitheran asus msi or abit/
cheers

My Akasa 62 case came yesterday and it looks beautiful. It's massive and I'm impressed. I bought a couple of 120mm ambers to go with it as well. I'm going to do a refit at the weekend when I have some time off.

Can anyone recommend a good method of getting rid of dust/fluff on components? I know some suggest cans of compressed air but I don't know where to get these from.

You bought an akasa in the end then snake? Bang on ain't they?

Competitors would stock compressed air, and also hobby shops.

Other than compressed air there is not much else I have tried with any real success.

Ok thanks, I'll have a look. Prob expensive for what it is tho. Could do with an air line...

Took me ages to decide too! Defo looks better in the flesh which is more than I can say for the Icy box I bought recently. I haven't transferred my bits yet, so I'm looking forward to that job at the weekend...

XP 120 will fit the Akasa 62 just fine...have had the setup running in mine with a SilenX 38mmx120mm fan. I also run SilenX case fans which also have a nice metallic finish which compliments the black/silver interior of the case. I am also running an S12 psu in mine and I have to say it's dead quiet with the G=power pro running at 7v and my GFX cards at 5v on Zalman GPU coolers.

The case is a dream to work on and the design allows you to hide cathodes/cables out of sight....pm me for pictures if you want bud.

Just back up and running after a refit in the Akasa 62. I really thought the xp120 wasn't going to work in this case as well as I assembled it on the mobo with the tray outside of the case. When I tried to slide it in, it caught at the top end. In the end I had to install it with the tray inside, which was tricky, but possible! I think the problem lies with my relatively old motherboard (which has the cpu socket quite near the top). There is some overhang over the top edge of the mobo with this board and the xp120. As it stands, there is maybe 5-7mm clearance between the cpu fan and the psu fan. I'm not sure whether this is adequate or not, but it works!

I really like the case, and it's a dream to work with and very well designed. The placement of the holes in the mobo tray mean you can easily route cables to make the insides nice and neat as I'm sure many of you know.

I've got a YS-TECH FD1238 120mm Fan - 4 Pin (FG-004-YS) fitted onto the cooler, and it's a bit noiser than I anticipated! This has a four pin molex connector, so I fitted a 3-4pin adaptor to it and attached the 3pin connector to the 3pin cpu fan header on the mobo. Although power came on when I booted, the cpu fan didn't spin and my pc just powered off after a few seconds. This had me scratching my head as I thought the 3pin mobo fan header would power the fan. Eventually, I figured the fan needed power from the PSU so I attached a molex connector to it and voila! Mobo monitor is not reading my cpu fan speed though. Any ideas?

I still have to fit my 120mm (Akasa Amber) case fans though, as I had trouble screwing in the screws with an ordinary screwdriver! I also have a super flower fan master to fit, so I'm hoping I can quiet down the cpu fan when this is installed.

Cheers for all your help.
