Akasa CPU cooler fan noise

Hi

I have just received a PC which was meant to have a Xygmatek Gaia cooler fitted, but appears to have an Akasa Nero 3 cooler instead.

I have been using the PC for 48 hours and have noticed that there is low but noticeable fan noise.
The case is a CM 690 II with 2 stock fans which seem fairly quiet and I think the noise is coming from the Akasa cooler.

Is the Nero 3 known to be noisy?

More importantly , do CPU cooler fans come in a standard size?
I want to know if I can replace the Akasa fan with another quieter fan maybe from a different manufacturer
If not, can I buy an Akasa Venom Voodoo fan and would this be quieter?

I would welcome some advice any any suggestions

thanks

I can recommend you Enermax TB Silence, the sub 1k rpm fan.
Very good and quiet, you won't hear it unless you put your ear close to it.

thanks for your idea of the Enermax - sounds good

will it fit the akasa cooler? is it straightforward to fit?

Also I see that you can get the Akasa Viper fan from the Voodoo cooler

does anyone know what the viper is like for noise?

Noisy. Unless it is running at low sub 1000 speed anyway. I have its sibling the apache and it is horrible.

really?

I know sound is subjective but I had 2 120mm of the apaches on a cpu cooler and it was dead silent when idle.

They dont play well on voltage based fan controllers though in my experience.

Apache idle is less than 1000rpm normally and yes it is not good on a voltage based fan controller. I found it had an annoying rattle at speed and a scratchiness at low speed.
