Had this case for a year now, but always wondered if the above area has a function at all?

If you run the rear fan as a intake air gets out through there.

Also I think that you can get a blower type fan that would fit. :)

I also noticed last night that there was a lot of air exhausting through this after I fitted the Akasa side panel with a blowhole.

That's because you have 2 fans blowing in and only 1 blowing out which gives you positive pressure in the case, so air will be forced out of any available aperture. This is a good thing.

That means you have the reverse of the above - more fans sucking air out than blowing air in. In that case, blocking one hole will either result in air getting sucked in somewhere else, or, if that isn't possible, you will have fans not working at full efficiency.

Hmm maybe, i didn't notice any changes in temps or noise after i did it. But what i had before was the gfx card getting clogged full of dust and none in the rest of the case, i think the air was coming in through there and getting sucked up into my gfx card. Ive just got 2 fans in push pull config, and a tagan psu which has 80mm fans, apparently they only run at 500rpm when idle so that shouldn't make much difference. I think this is what ill do then, mod some sort of dust filter over the rear vent and see if my temps change.
