Looking for a nice roomy case with decent cooling qualities, particularly for the HDD's as I run four for photo storage. Either of these seem to suit the bill. Any preferences?

Looks aren't a consideration, it's under a desk and pretty much out of view.

From what a lot of people seem to say this could actually be a part of the sales blurb for the eclipse! ;) :p

I actually like how simple and uncompromising it looks!

Take a look at the eclipse owners thread HERE - they can look ace!

Well I got the eclipse and to be honest my first impressions are mixed.

Space wise it's great, plenty room for 5 hard drives, dvd and CD, supplied fans are pretty quiet (although I'll swap them out when my new ones arrive), finish is nice. Plenty of room also to tuck unused cables out of the way without impeding air flow so it should perform pretty well thermally.

The one thing that is really going to annoy me though is the removable drive cage. In order to get to the thumbscrews you have to take both side panels off and then the front panel. Who came up with that idea??? Given that I can easily fill a 200GB drive in about 6 weeks through photographing events it's really going to be a nuisance.

Or am I doing something wrong?

why not just unscrew that hard disk from the rack? 2-4 screws depending on how many you use. also saves you having to work the wires for the other drives.

It's an option but you still need to take off both sides to get at the screws which defeats the point of a removable cage. Bad design IMO.

Lol a Tip never ask for a comparison with a TT product on here it will always loose, which is wrong imo they do quite a few nice cases but 99% of users on here wont even recommend TT, also imo dunno they both are nice cases, seen the Shark up close and it looks mean, but also from the Eclipse threads on here they look nice aswell

It is a very nice case, very roomy, well laid out, well constructed. Just this one point which I didn't pick up on any review anywhere.

thermaltake are ace when compared with the average NZXT and even the odd antec, but comparing it to say...a lian li, or an akasa is just no competition, they are two very differently minded companies, with 2 very separate fan bases, it just so happens the average OcUKer seems to be in the lian li/akasa camp.

i have a thermaltake soprano, its quite cool, fairly quite and has a lot of space, but it's cheap, plastic door, steel frame, plastic top hatch. i wouldn't think twice about a choice between an akasa or a soprano ;) (even if they were closer tot he same price :p)
