Never stealthed a drive before, but I have two grey optical drives and a black case! Not the most attractive combo, eh?
I've seen some kind of "pre-made" stealth things for other cases, but there don't seem to be any accessories of this sort for the Eclipse.

Has anyone stealthed drives in this case before? Whats the best way to go about it?

Please keep in mind that I am a newb, and not too bright :D

P.S. It should arrive today! So excited :D

Sorry i only just saw your thread. This is my stealth mod. IIRC the one in the sticky requires you to remove the fascia from the drive and seems very over complicated for such a simple mod.

What i did was to glue some perspex into the bezel (thing that clicks into front of case, not sure what the proper name is :o ). I glued it in with silicone, put 4 blobs in the corners then laid it face up on a flat surface so that the perspex lines up with the bezel to make a flat surface to stick to the optical drive.

Then simply stick this to the optical drive door with double sided tape. If the drive is a NEC one like mine then the bezel will just rest on the button so that all you have to do to open it is press the corner. If the button is different then you may need to glue a small block of perspex on.

Thanks chaps :) , i was really pleased with the result as well. I didn't like the look of the grey drives against the deep black at all and the fact the drives are square and the front is curved doesn't help either.

Oh i didn't know you meant a slot loading drive, it didn't say in your OP. Hmm id imagine its just a case of cutting a slot in the bezel and then making some sort of button or maybe have it so that the corner presses the button like the normal mod. If it was me id also use some milliput or something to create walls on the slot so the its not just a gap between the bezel and the drive and paint black to match bezel. Also you could chamfer the edge around the slot slightly to give it a better look and make it easier to insert the disk.

Actually I had clear forgotten my drive was slot load when I made the post :p
I think however that I will ninja the drive from my other PC, which uses a normal tray :) The post on stealthing above was spot on, will definitely use that method! :)

You make a filler between the cover and the button and file it down so it just touches the button then you just have to press in that general area, the bay cover is flexible plastic so it works.

On the one i made i didnt have to make any fillers or anything as the button was on the same level as the drive door. So just stuck it on with 2 strips of 1mm foam double sided tape and then the bezel rests on the button and just requires a light press of the bezel to open.
