Can this be used to control the speed of a fan which has a 3/4-pin header?

Nope , it says in one of the reviews that fans with 4 pins such as the akasa apache dont work with this fan controller

Unless the 4 pin connector won't physically fit I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work.

Fans with 4 pin connectors work on 3 pin headers. You just lose the PWM control.

Thats what I thought but I can't seem to find any pictures of the rear of the controller!

Nor could I.

You could always order one using free postage and that way you can make use of the Distance Selling Regulations.

Try it.

If it works keep it.

If it doesn't work return it using the Distance Selling Regulations.

It would cost you a couple of quid to return it or you could just take it back yourself once you'd given them written notice that you're using the DSR.

Well I picked one up from the shop, and it works fine. Just had to modify the fan connector slightly to cater for the 4-pin header.
