Hi, I'm still trying to decide on a fan controller and I think I've narrowed it down to the following three options: -

Lamptron FC2
Akasa FC Six
Lamptron FC5 V3

Now the first two seem pretty similar in general but the Akasa unit offers 4 pin PWM control while the Lamptron is 3 pin voltage control.
Are there any major differences in quality between those two?

The 3rd option is obviously a lot more expensive and I'm presuming as an actual controller it's pretty much the same as the FC2 and the extra money is just getting you the display?

With the 3 pin vs 4 pin are they completely incompatible?, i.e the Akasa couldn't control Prolimatech Vortex and the Lamptrons couldn't control BitFenix PRO PWM

Thanks for any advice, who'd have thought picking fans and a controller would turn out to be the most complicated part of my system!

Ross

both controllers will operate either fans you would just loose pwm aspect of the fan. I have recently used a six channel akassa unit I forget exactly which one it was okay I have also used the fc5 v3 which feels and looks much better quality but is no good for controlling fans. if I had to buy one of those again id get the akassa everytime.
next one im going to try will be one of the aqueros they seem to get positive feedback

Thanks Queeg (or should that be Holly ;)) That's interesting about the FC5 V3, what was wrong with it in controlling terms? The reviews I've found seemed to rate it quite highly if a little overpriced.

I had the akasa one you listed and it was great! nothing bad to say about it. did exactly what it said on the tin. it looks really good as well (even if brushed aluminium is a dust magnet)

the problems with the fc5 are numerous first the start boost to get the fans going is longer on the akassa.
95 percent of the six dials don't do anything then it seems your choice is on or off.
if you leave it on suddenly fans will ramp up to full spin you get up go to pc turn dial down fans go off. this also happens in reverse fans stop you get up give dial a tweak fans on full blast.
the display is all over the place.
the akassa controller is so much better and cheaper its just not funny I really do not know how the lamptron controller got those good reviews I read them too.

get the Akasa it's great, it has quite long 4 pin cables and it's the same brushed aluminium as a Lian, pure quality
