This might be my fault as i am still leaning about pc , i took my pc apart yesterday for a big tidy up , i got some new Akasa Rounded ATA/133 IDE 3-Head Cable which i wanted to connect to both my dvd drives to make a more tidy system. I turned on pc got power to drives ect , when i look in my computer the drives was not listed , do i have the correct leads ? unles the leads are naff

I plugged the blue plug marked " SYSTEM BOARD" in to my motherboard and master into 1 dvd drive and slave into other drive , like i said i have power to both drives thats it .I replaced them with the orignal cable now working at nomal with them asus black tings

I cant say Ive used these cables before (apart from a floppy drive version) BUT I have had the same problem before when I once upgraded to a new motherboard and didnt use the new cables , just plugged in the old ones connected to drives and computer didnt see them. Once I opened the new cables and fitted them the drives showed up... was an Asus motherboard as well m8.

Have you got another computer you could try these cables on just to be sure there working ok?

hmm i got them in my spare pc, just plugged in and away you go, make sure they are in the right way round. normally you can t put em in wrong but if they can go in either way make sure they right way. apart from that cant think of anything else unless cable is broken somehow

I think they are duff , i did try again , pc booted as normal and dvd lights flashed but nothing :( :( i plugged the blue one marked " SYSTEM BOARD" in to my motherboard , so it cannot be the motherboard as now i have the asus cables in and now all working A ok

Double check master/slave and cable select jumpers.

I will check on the back of the dvd drives later today , i am not going to panic as the orignal cables work anyway , it sounds like cable to me but i will try at work
