Maybe if you had dual deltas in Push/Pull.

Idle should be no problem with fast enough fans.

Not at load though.

oh yeah sorry forgot to specify idle lol
yeah, idle.

i had them at ~57 last night, idle... had the fan round the wrong way, it and the back case fan blowing into each other, pretty useless.

will definately need to get a push/pull on the go.

thanks.

The only way u will get sub 30's idle (stock or overclocked) on an I7 is with custom water or better.

Or as Tealc said dual Deltas' but thats a no go if u like your hearing lol.

But honestly idle temps mean nothing, nice to have low yeh, but still means nothing, loaded low temps is where its at and means more. As the sensors are more accurate the closer they get to the limit.

Literally built my i7 920 rig 2 weeks ago with this cooler, currently idling between 33 and 37 on all 4 cores, they seem to vary quite a bit!

I think these are roughly normal temps for stock?

It might be possible to push the temps down a little more with an extra fan for a push/pull setup, mine's only a single fan for now.

This is the lowest ive ever had on mine, stock speed i7 920 DO.

That was during the winter, a few windows open in the room, lapped TRUE black with 2 x 400-1200 rpm pwm fans, it runs a lot higher theese days though, 41-37-41-37, @4ghz, same cooler but changed the fans for a pair of vipers.

Lowest iv had mine todate, and only had it just over a month has been 25/26 on 2 cores 28/29 on the other 2, without speedstep as i can't seem to get that to reduce the volts, only the multi, need to look into that.

But that is with custom water, and 2 vipers (700rpm) and next to an open window at night lol.

Can't wait for winter to see what i can get idle and load lol.

700 rpm is nice bifday, the vipers are nice and quiet even at 1000 rpm, (my idle speed). Are you just cooling the cpu? Ive considered watercooling this rig of mine (cpu only), as doing the gpu's as well would cost a fortune, unfortunatey finances just dont permit it at the moment.:(

Yeh im just cooling cpu only.

Think it cost me £100 to do.

Single bay res/pump combo, pa 120.2 (was on offer), supreme LT block, and tubing, and 2 vipers.

Pump is'nt the best but for cpu only its fine, its one thing i'll upgrade down the line im sure.

I usually have my vipers at 1000rpm during the day as i fold then, at night i put them down to 700, not once have i gone over 70c on the cores. Deffinatly was worth the money i think.
