Looking for a new set of headphones. Did ask last year and was looking at the akg k550, but stuff happened, didn't get around to buying.

Budget is not quite as high this time, so was looking at the AKG k92. Seems to get good reviews for the price. Something else to consider around there (£50ish) or are they the best at that price.

Will be using a Soundblaster Z with them if that effects the decision.

Thanks.

Just seen them online for £35.49, seems too good to turn down. Certainly very well reviewed. The only others really to consider at £50 are still the Creative Aurvana Live!. but they are £55.

Actually really interested to see how you find them if you buy them.

Yeah, they look like good value for £35. 32 Ohms, so I would imagine they are going to be more considerably more sensitive and easier to drive compared to some of AKG's other headphones; the SB Z should power them sufficiently.

Thanks.

Ordered the k92. I can leave impressions here when I get them, but headphones aren't really my thing. So can only really give impressions on build/comfort and if they sound good to me.

If they sound good to you, they sound good. Genuinely interested because they look like they could be the new under £50 king. The Creatives have rightly held that spot for ages now, years in fact!

Well they came. Happy with them.

Was using Panasonic RP-HTX7 before, which were also cheap and got ok reviews when I got them. To start with, these headphones are much more comfortable. I wouldn't say the Panasonic were bad in that regard, but these are nicer. After hours sometimes the band on the Panasonic headphones would hurt, no such problems here. The auto sizing band is nice as well.

Sound quality. Well, they sound good to me, better than my old heaphones. Watching the Shadow of mordor 2 trailer that got released today, when the ring is struck, it sounded a little tinny I guess on the panasonic, on the k92 it sounds much nicer, like an anvil is actually being hit. Same deal with the monster or whatever it is roaring, it sounds much better on the k92, like something big is actually roaring, the panasonic just sounded a little meh there compared to them.

Sorry I can't be any more specific than that, but for the price I think they are great :). Don't even have them on the SBZ yet, didn't expect them to come so quick, so still on my ALC1150 onboard.
