alan awake 2 - xbox 720

if you google "alan awake 2 xbox 720" (i just don't wanna link), so many "trusty" sites talk about that alan awake 2 is in progress for the new xbox "720", how is that even possible?
 
i am about to purchase a console any day now and i am being paranoid that either Microsoft or Sony will announce their new consoles right after :(
Haha, i am thinking too much!

Do you think there's a chance the new consoles will be released during 2012? if it's 2013 then i am fine with that... want at least 1 year of use

That was the first thing I thought when I read the thread title.

Honestly, I don't know why they bother. Xbox 3 is much more simple.

I'm not claiming they'll call it an Xbox 3, but what ever they call it it's still the third Xbox. The "720" thing is stupid. That's what I was saying, people refering to the third Xbox, when they call it the "720" it looks stupid.

The only reason the xbox 2 was called the 360was so it had the number 3 in the name. Can't exactly call it xbox 2 when theres a ps3. Sounds like an inferior product.

What do you mean how is it possible? How are games released on the same day as a new console? The developers get devkits upto 3 years before the new machine is released to start work on the launch games for it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are PS4 and Xbox 3 devkits in the hands of developers right now.

The consoles won't be released during 2012 but you could well see an announcement about at least one of them at E3 in 2012 for a 2013 release.

Regardless, the catalogue of games on both the PS3 and X360 is large enough that you'll still be buying games for it 2 years into the next gen if you haven't upgraded. And all the multiplats will probably be on both the current and next gen hardware simply because there won't be a bit enough install base on new hardware to warrant massive budget games.

The PS2 at least was supported for several years into the PS3 launch, developers don't all jump on the new hardware bandwagon so new games still get released on the old hardware for a couple of years.

Buy whatever you want to buy now. Even if they come out tomorrow and launch the new machines there are still dozens of games to play on the existing hardware and dozens more on the way.
 
While the consoles are still supported, the target demographic of games released changes quite a bit.
 
E3 2012 is when I think MS will announce the next Xbox, then an early 2013 launch.

Anyway, the console is already confirmed, just a matter of when it comes out. ;)

Yes I know it's probably some clever marketing ploy by MS to get it out there as the film is set in the future, but hey.

Loved the first game but I was under the impression it didn't sell as well as they hoped. Would be a strange title to bank on to lead the next generation (even though I would love it).
 
I think the next Xbox will have a name instead of some sort of number.

I really need to play more Alan Wake, finished the first few levels but for some reason I haven't been back, I'm a bit crap with creepy games :(
 
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 900 on Xbox 900. That's gonna happen.

Only skater available is Tony Hawk in 900 different outfits, and every trick is a 900. Even the grinds.
