Alarms on scaffolding...

.....How do they work?

My Brother's House (the whole block) has been scaffoled and his wife thinks some one might climb on the scafolding and get into the Flat. The structure is supposed to have an alarm on it but can someone shed light on how it works please or are those "ALARMED KEEP OUT" signs are just for show?

i would say they are almost certainly for show, however I will have a look into it

nope. we use them all the time. get turned on when the contractors have left.

I guess they work with some sort of motion sensor or pressure sensor?

there are nuerous types. Generally movement sensors.
usually liked back to a central control point as well as the building alarm who will send out security people.

They normally use two alarms with an infrared beams, break the beam and the alarm goes off.

I am sure I watched a movie once where motion sensors were deployed on Scaffolding, they looked like marbles or something... If only I could remember what film it was, might have been Swat?
