Alarms silenced when docked

Hey all,

I recently bought an iPhone 4 dock so I could charge my 4s during the night and use it as a nightstand clock.

I found out the hard way that alarms do not sound when docked... and phone calls do!! (I'm sure you know what the call was for lol)

Does anyone know how to fix this/override the alarms & call ringtones to come out of the phones speakers rather than only through the line out port? If I plug my speakers into the 'Line out' port the alarm sounds, but I'd prefer not to have speakers connected to the dock since I only use it at night.

My alarm sounds fine when connected to the iPhone 4 dock, so sounds like a possible setting OS-side rather than hardware?

News to me though, not seen anything like that in Settings.

I just tried with the native 'Clock' application and the alarm sounds from the iPhone's speakers. I was using another clock application with a better UI lol.

But it's weird how that application doesn't let you choose where the sound comes from
