After several years of faithful service, my Sammy SM226BW has gone bang. No chance of a board repair either.

Now, I’m in urgent need of a new monitor; but I’m clueless as to what to consider. So, hopefully you lovely fourm lurkers can shed some light and help me spec a new one.

It needs to be either 22”, 23” or 24” in size
My max budget is only £160.
I only game; mainly L4D2, and BF3 with a bit of shogun 2
It needs to have vesa for wall mounting.
Will be running it with the GTX570 in my sig.
I’m also one of those lucky people who really does notice ghosting in games.

Any ideas for a replacement anyone?

Not feeling the forum love so far.....:p

..anyhow, I checked out the two sammys recommended on pcmonitors.org, but the lack of vesa mounting has put the nail in their coffin...and the missus would remove vital bits of me if I shelled out for one of those flashy new 120hz benq's.

I've been looking at the LG IPS235v. I can see some positive feedback in a few posts on here. I can get it for under £140, so it's a possible winner. Any owners of this monitor here had any issues so far with it?

I think that's a monitor you want to avoid as it is an IPS with not so great overdrive implementation, pretty much one one of the very few monitors you want to avoid if you're sensitive to ghosting.
If you want to stick to IPS on the cheap you're better off with the AOC i2353fh or even better the Dell U2312HM if you're not after an IPS screen but just a decent <£160 screen that's good for gaming then I can recommend the Iiyama E2473HDS.

Thanks for the info, very useful to know. :)

I'm now weighing up the Iiyama with the Benq 24" panels here on ocuk.
Anyone here using the BenQ G2450HM?

So far I'm torn between these 4 screens;

BenQ G2450HM
IIyama Prolite E2475HDS
IIyama Prolite E2473HDS
BenQ G2420HDBL
