I have Alexa setup and have to say Alexa turn on projector, which sends IR command to switch on... Then have to say "Alexa turn on system" which turns plug power on for AV amp etc.

Is there away I can link the command as one?... With me saying "turn on projector" and it turns both devices on?

Just wondering

:)

If you have a Logitech Hub, and connect it to Alexa, you can do the above. You can have up to 8 devices controlled by the Logitech Hub, and setup activities vi a the Logitech App which can control those 8 devices all together. I ask Alexa to turn on projector and with that one command, controlled by the Logitech hub, turn on the projector, and the Sony sound bar, dim my Hue lights and if it is on, turn off the TV and TV sound bar.

Not sure if this applies, never used it before! But may as well have a quick check for the sake of a couple of minutes reading

I use both of these techniques (a Logitech Hub and Alexa Routines) but I also use groups as well.

In my living room I've got a Logitech Harmony Hub that allows me to have a single device called "television" that I can turn on.

Behind the scenes the "television" is a routine on the Logitech Harmony Hub that 1) Turns on the TV 2) Selects the right input on the AV receiver 3) turns on the sky box

To use this I says is "Alexa, turn on the television".

I have also created additional Smart Home -> Groups called "TV" and "tele" that just contain one thing in the group, which is the "television".

This means when I says "Alexa, turn on the TV" (or tele) it's turning on that "group" (which just contains the television) and turns it on.

You could optionally add additional things into this group, but they would only be able to be turned on or off all at the same time. This might be handy if you want lamps to come on in the livingroom when you turn on your TV, but this wouldn't allow you to automatically turn off the ceiling light when you turn on the TV.

This is where the "Routines" come in.

They'll let you create a completely custom phrase (I use "Alexa, get ready for a movie") which can both turn things on, but also turn things off.

So, when I say "Alexa, get read for a movie" it does:

1) Turn on "television" (which is a logitech command which turns on my TV, turns on my amp, selects the input, turns on the sky box)
2) Turns OFF the living room ceiling light
3) Turns ON the side lamp
4) Turns ON the fireplace lights
5) Stops the Sonos (if it's on)

If you've got separate commands already setup and controlled by IR then you could just slot them in a routine, or put them in a group. Just remember a group wouldn't allow you to turn things off and other things on - you need a routine for that.
