Looking further at these smart solutions.
My main issue that is pushing me to alexa rather than Google (which I'd prefer) is that my living room and study setup are not smart speaker set ups.
Both have 'dumb' amps. I believe I could use alexa's aux out. So I could wire this to my big speakers via an input on the amp.
Effectively the smart speaker would be a smart mic.
I can't work out in my head if this is even worth it. As I'd still have to change the input source for chrome cast, xbox etc
But with chromecast does this get round that? Ie can Google assistant basically play Spotify via chrome cast?
